Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest rivalry between two individuals the ‘Beautiful game’ has ever witnessed, perhaps even overshadowing the Pele-Maradona rivalry. There is no end to the debate as to who is the better player between the two.
They have been sharing the FIFA Player of the year award for seven years now and there is no rewards for guessing if the prestigious Ballon D’Or award will again be presented to either of the two come January.
The Portuguese has had a documentary, ‘Ronaldo’, based on his Ballon d’Or winning campaigh last season among a sneak peek into his personal life, released on November 9 in a grand ceremony at Leicester Square in London. After which ‘CR7’ was invited for an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, which is a comical British chat show.
The light-hearted interview covered a number of aspects of Ronaldo’s life, which unsurprisingly included Leo Messi.
He was quizzed by Jonathan Ross as to how he felt when he was asked if he was ready to be part of a movie which exhibits his life. In reply, CR7 said that he was initially shocked and asked the producers “why a movie about me”.
The whimsical anchor, shot back saying, “Why me, why not Lionel Messi?”
Ronaldo who was in a playful mood himself said, “Okay, I understand them because they were looking for the best player in the world, so.....”.
His reply was greeted with loud cheers and claps from the audience that was present in the studio.
However, in this very interview Ronaldo accepted that Leo Messi would win the Ballon D’Or in January. He also mentioned that he has a normal relationship with the Argentine and it’s just that they are “not home-friends”. He also added that both of them respected each other and there is no rivalry between them.
