Heerenveen and Ajax shared points in 3-3 draw.
Some of the recent greats of Dutch football were on opposing sides on Friday as Ajax (coached by Frank de Boer and his assistant Dennis Bergkamp) travelled to meet Heerenveen (led by Marco van Basten).
Ajax had the lead on 12 minutes, when Niklas Moisander headed home.
Four minutes later it was 2-0, and once again it came from the goalkeeper’s mistake as he flapped at the cross, allowing Kolbeinn Sigthorsson to score the second header of the night.
However on 22 minutes, Heerenveen were back in it, when Alfred Finnbogason beat the offside trap, and the Icelandic striker coolly finished.
Heerenveen then drew level with an almost identical goal, as Finnbogason, scored his second.
Just before half time the comeback was complete for Heerenveen, as Magnus Wolff Eikrem fired the home side into the lead,
Early in the second half Ajax pushed forward in search of the equaliser and they found it after 64 minutes as Christian Eriksen found the bottom corner, with an excellent left footed shot from outside the penalty area.
