The Czech capital, Prague was preparing on Thursday (29th August) to host the UEFA Super Cup Final, with Friday’s (30th August) match between Bayern Munich and Chelsea taking place at the Eden Stadium.
Pitting Europe’s Champions League winners against the team that triumphed in the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup is entering a new era.
After 15 years being hosted at Monaco’s home ground, the one-off game will take place in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.
The Eden Stadium was chosen as the first venue in a new rotation policy, with the 2014 meeting set for Cardiff in Wales and the 2015 fixture due to be held in Georgia. And the match will continue to move to a different ground each year.
Germany’s Bayern Munich and Chelsea, of England, will battle it out for supremacy on Friday evening in a repeat of the 2012 Champions League final, which Chelsea won on penalties.
It promises to be a fascinating match, with new boss Pep Guardiola facing an old foe, in the form of Jose Mourinho.
The two managers were involved in more than a few disputes during their spells in Spain, in charge of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
