#7 Ian Rush, Anfield, 06 March 1993
One of Liverpool’s greatest players and one of the most feared strikers of the 80s and early 90s, Ian Rush had a rather poor goalscoring against fierce rivals, Manchester United. The Welshman scored just 3 goals against United out of the 200-odd goals scored by him for Liverpool.
Rush’s last goal against Manchester United in Liverpool colours was this beauty in the 1993 season. The striker started off the bench but was brought on in the 44th minute of the game, and got on the scoresheet in the 50th minute.
The Welsh striker got onto a ball from defence, outmuscled the United defence and hit it on the half-volley across the outstretched arms of Peter Schmeichel. His goal brought the team level, but Brian McClair’s 56th minute goal sealed it for United.
