Christian Eriksen’s potential is known to all, but his brilliance on the pitch is often eclipsed by the underwhelming performances of his not-so ecstatic team, Tottenham Hotspur. However, that wasn’t the case during Tottenham’s 2-2 win over League One side Sheffield United after the Danish midfielder scored twice to bolster his side to their League Cup final against Chelsea.
It was Eriksen’s first goal that caught the eye after the 22-year-old slotted the ball past the Sheffield United keeper Mark Howard from a 25-yard free-kick in the 28th minute of the match. The goalkeeper was no match for Eriksen’s curling shot which found its way inside the net after hitting the far post of the crossbar.
He grabbed his second goal of the night with three minutes to go until full-time before two goals from Che Adams in the second half.
"When they scored they got confidence, and you saw the crowd, but we had to play our best," said Eriksen. "To be in the final is what everyone wants at Tottenham."
