Arsenal’s YouTube channel is a veritable goldmine of candid videos of the Gunner’s squad, and the North London giants have provided us with another unique video to feast our eyes upon. On the occasion of Holi, Arsenal are probably the only English Premier League club to wish their Indian fans, in a rather slickly-produced video.
Football comes in multiple colours, but the Arsenal squad players took it to another level as they celebrated Holi with typical gusto. Hector Bellerin, David Ospina, Kieran Gibbs, Calum Chamber, Mohammed Elneny and Nacho Monreal all indulged in a bit of good-natured Holi celebrations, tossing coloured powders at each other.
The video ends with Arsenal wishing their fans a ‘Happy Holi’, as the Gunners pander to the growing contingent of Indian Arsenal fans.
The North London club had also released a video celebrating Diwali late last year, with multiple squad players lighting diyas and Mesut Ozil in traditional Indian attire wishing the Indian Gunners a Happy Holi.
Arsene Wenger had described this love of Indian culture then, saying “I am an admirer of Indian culture because, historically, through [Mahatma] Gandhi, when you are a young boy you learn about [his non-violence principles] and it has a special meaning to you.”
“When you are a very young boy you think you have to fight violence with violence and you never forget about a guy who gives you that [peaceful] example. It makes you curious about Indian culture as well because they have their special culture with the different strands in society. It's a very interesting one.”
“When you look here, there is a very big Indian community in England and they are all hard-working people. All of them are doing very well in society, so you always respect that when you know that. Hard work is an essential quality in every society. That provokes a big respect.”
