The tie which was expected to be one sided ended in a 1-1 draw as Bayern Munich and Manchester United faced each other in their first leg match of the UEFA Champions League quarter finals. One of the highlights of the match was the sending off of Bayern Munich vice-captain Bastian Schweinsteiger who was sent off after securing a second yellow card.
However, it was a controversial decision, the least that could be said about the referee’s decision as Wayne Rooney could be seen going down quite easily. Well, we will reserve our opinion to ourselves unlike Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola who was unhappy with the referee, and even made signals with his right hand, indicating that Rooney had dived.
“I spoke with the referee,” he said. “He’s a very good referee. He made a very, very good game but it’s unfair. But it’s okay. If you want to win the Champions League you have to solve and overcome everything during the competition. I gave my opinion to the referee, that’s all.”
