It seems nobody gets the better of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, not even the referee who exercises full control of proceedings in a football match. The Swedish striker is a popular figure both on and off the pitch and it seems like nobody can tell him what to do.
After making headlines earlier this week after an altercation with St. Etienne’s Paul Baysee, Ibrahimovic was in the news again when Paris Saint-Germain played Rennes on Friday night. This time, it wasn’t with an opponent but the referee himself.
In the 36th minute of the game, PSG defender Marquinhos was booked for a rash challenge on Rennes’ Sylvain Armand. The Brazilian centre back was shown a yellow card and Ibrahimovic was not too pleased with the decision.
With a slight delay in the match as Armand wasn’t quite ready to continue immediately, Ibrahimovic had a word with the referee before moving away. When the referee beckoned him, asking him to come back to talk to him face-to-face, Ibrahimovic stood his ground, hands on his hip asking the referee what he did wrong.
The referee finally ended up walking all the way to where Ibrahimovic stood to put an end to the matter!
