Manchester United‘s Nemanja Vidic has said that he was impressed by the displays put on by Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in Champions League semi-finals.
The Red Devils themselves were dumped out of the tournament in the previous round by Spanish giants Real Madrid amidst controversy, surrounding a red card shown to Nani in the second leg of the tie at Old Trafford. Yet, whilst the Serbia international says it was difficult to watch from home as others fought for glory in Europe’s elite competition, he tips his hat to the German pair that have reached the final.
“It’s hard to watch these kinds of games as you know maybe we could be there,” he told MUTV.
“Credit to Bayern and Dortmund. I think both the teams played very good football.”
Yet, despite the disappointment of crashing out of continental play relatively early, Vidic insisted that his side’s campaign has been a success as they recovered the Premier League title from heated rivals Manchester City.
“But I think, at the end of the day, we should be satisfied with our season. We won the title, which was our priority this season,” he added.
