Nemanja Vidic has been dealt another injury setback, after it’s been revealed he’ll miss another 8 weeks of action. The captain missed the majority of last season with a knee injury sustained in the Champions League, but the Serbian defender underwent another operation on the same knee a few days ago, the club have confirmed.
Injuries to our key players cost us massively last season and, although Vidic didn’t look his self in the few weeks he’d been back, it will still be a major loss. Rio Ferdinand has been excellent so far this season, but remains injury prone and with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones already out for a long period of time, our injury problems are growing again.
The club statement said “Nemanja Vidic has had a meniscus operation on his right knee and will be out for around eight weeks. Sir Alex, as a precautionary measure, rested Vidic at the weekend, after he complained of tightness in his knee, however, further medical investigation revealed the underlying problem. The central defender was operated on this week and will be sidelined for about eight weeks.”
