Vincent Kompany - The Belgian Hero

The Belgian skipper is on the right track after his exceptional captaincy, which lead English Premier League Champions City to their first league title in 44 years, to be precise. The City superstar is a very proficient defender, and keeps an eye on each and every movement of opposition team like a sharp-eyed eagle. A defender with god-blessed skills. His attitude towards players shows he has respect and class.

In my opinion, he doesn’t only represent his team, but also football as a whole. He’s very much dedicated to what he does. A pillar of strength, but is also graceful for a defender. The skipper scored a crucial header from a David Silva corner against Manchester United in the Manchester Derby. Kompany’s captiancy had finally paid on the last day of the season, where City cleared the final hurdle of a season of never ending challenges, when they beat QPR 3-2 to be crowned champions. Kompany held the trophy up very proudly. It was a breath-taking moment in EPL as history came back to haunt the Red Devils after failing to win a single title this season. Kompany was included in the Premier League Team of The Year for two years in a row in 2011 and 2012 and also was named, the Premier League Player of The Season in 2012.

His instincts tell him how to deal with with top strikers. He just seems to recognize their movements, subduing even the likes of Rooney and Van Persie. Down the road if he deciedes to leave the club, there will be huge void left in the Citizens back-four. A player with a great future, we can expect more from him in the coming years.
