Virgil van Dijk has expressed his desire to join the Scottish champions Celtic.
Celtic were said be interested in signing the Under-21 Dutch international from the Dutch Eredivisie club FC Groningen and the defender has claimed that a move to the Scottish champions would be a ‘step up’ for him.
Virgil van Dijk told De Telegraaf: “Celtic is a fantastic club and a step up for me.”
However, the 21-year-old has said that he is waiting for a deal to be put in place for the two clubs to agree.
“I now have to wait until the clubs agree,” added Virgil van Dijk.
