A waiter at a Barbados restaurant almost lost his job after taking a photo with Manchester United striker Robin van Persie. The striker is currently on vacation in the Caribbean after a third place finish with Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil.
Kyson Forde, who works at a posh restaurant called Cliff, had asked the Dutch captain to pose with him for a picture. And his bosses were least impressed with the act.
Both Forde and another employee are in trouble as restaurant staff are banned from using mobile phones in the restaurant’s dining area.
A source revealed that Forde is a huge fan of the Red Devils and didn’t want to miss out on the opportunity to take a picture with the star.
“Maybe Kyson shouldn’t have bothered RVP when he was out for a meal, but it seems an over-reaction,” he said.
“Kyson is a massive Man U fan and this was his one chance to get a snap with his hero.”
Another employee revealed that Forde has been ordered not to report for duty for two weeks because he used his phone.
Restaurant manager Peter Harris confirmed the suspension and also revealed that Van Persie did not complain when he was asked for his picture.
We are yet to know if the waiter has launched an appeal to rescind the suspension...
