FIFA have released the latest World Rankings today and there aren’t many notable changes to the order of the standings due to the lack of competitive international matches in the past month. Argentina continues to hold on to the top spot after their exploits in the Copa America while Belgium and Germany are in second and third with 1269 points and 1248 points respectively.
There are no changes in fifth, sixth and seventh place with Brazil, Portugal and Romania maintaining their position since August. Copa America winners Chile continue their ascent up the table by climbing two spots to number 8, swapping positions with England have dropped to 10th position. Wales stay in 9th position with 1146 points, after breaking into the top 10 for the first time in the July rankings and overtaking their continent counterparts England for the first time.
Spain and Netherlands occupy 11th and 12th spots and are closely followed by Austria, who climb two spots to number 13 in the list courtesy their consistent performances over the past few months. The climb of Austria saw Croatia and Slovakia fall down one place each to 14th and 15th respectively, with the rest of the table remaining unchanged.
Two of the biggest movers in the table were Fiji and Seychelles. The Oceania nation were the biggest climbers in the rankings, climbing 17 spots to number 181 and Seychelles were the biggest losers this month, dropping seven spots to number 192.
