The Uefa Champions League has witnessed some scintillating goals over the years and Marco Reus’s solo effort against Galatasaray at the Turk Telecom Arena is one to remember. The Galatasaray defence hesitated to close down Reus after he had received the ball from the right flank and the German international found himself with more than enough time and space to unleash a dipping shot, 25-yards away from the goal.
An absolute piece of genius that demonstrated why players of Reus’s class should be closed down as early as possible.
The goalkeeper, Fernando Muslera was helpless as he could do nothing apart from watching the ball fly into his goal. Reus’s spectacular strike was one that even the home fans would have been enraptured of. His goal came in the 41st minute on either side of a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace and an Adrian Ramos effort as BVB won the game 4-0.
