Westfalenstadion beheld a five-star performance from Dortmund that evening as they thrashed the visiting Die Fohlen 5-0. Marco Reus delivered a man of the match display as he made a significant contribution to his side’s sumptuous display with two goals and an assist. It was Reus who opened the scoring in the 35th minute after he got on the end of a fine counterattack from Dortmund but he didn’t celebrate his goal out of respect for his former club.
Reus was very much himself throughout the game and the German proved his class yet again with a blistering strike in the 70th minute. It was another counter attack from Dortmund and Mario Gotze played a short pass to Reus at the right side of the box. Reus’s return pass was intercepted and the ball came back into him.
The German then opted to take the shot from the most difficult of angles and the ball flew into the top left corner of Marc-André ter Stegen’s net. Reus didn’t celebrate that goal either as he showed that he is not only a wonderful footballer but also an honourable man.
