#2 Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho produced a midfield masterclass
Frank Lampard has found his preferred XI in recent days and with N'Golo Kante injured, his decision to deploy a double-pivot of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic has paid dividends for the Blues.
Although they showed glimpses of their potential in their first season in the Premier League under Maurizio Sarri, they continued to divide opinion and developed a tendency of blowing hot and cold. However, the pair have become mainstays under Lampard and produced a commanding performance in the centre of the park once again.
Jorginho carved the Watford defence open with a killer pass, which was latched onto and finished brilliantly by Tammy Abraham and the Italian continued to grow in stature as the game progressed, despite conceding a penalty in the second half.
Kovacic's press resistance and his ability to work in tight spaces was on show once again, as he complemented Jorginho brilliantly for the away side. With Kante nearing full fitness, it remains to be seen how Chelsea lineup in midfield but the Blues look solid, to say the least, with Kovacic and Jorginho pulling string from the centre of the park.
