When I say complete forward I’m talking about Wayne Rooney. Scoring goals, clearing balls from dangerous areas, fast sprints to tackle down even the toughest of attackers, amazing crosses and through balls, stunning dribbles, artistic goals, you name it ! This player can do everything, well almost. Now whoever you are , wherever you are, why I have chosen Wayne Rooney and not Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi or any other player who is in hot form such as Frank Ribery or Luis Suarez is because, irrespective of the great achievements of each of the players mentioned before, Wayne Rooney qualifies to be complete simply because of his playing style.

Wayne Rooney is probably one of the most prolific forwards Manchester United and England will ever have. Beginning his career in Everton , Wayne Rooney has turned out to be one of the most desirable forwards a club can have. Manchester United faced stiff competition from Newcastle and a bid of €25.6 million underlines the potential and talent his displays had revealed.

Wayne Rooney is one of the most versatile players to have graced the Manchester United jersey. Having played in the number 8 position and then moving on to being the number 10 of Manchester United, he is one of the most exciting players to watch. He is an engine, a beast who gives his all during the game – be it international friendlies, league or cup ties. He can play as a striker, supporting striker, winger and even as a midfielder. This rare quality of Wayne Rooney is perhaps why he has been deployed in various parts of the field during Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.

If you are a United fan or even a person who loves watching good fixtures, there isn’t a game where you do not see Rooney going deep into defence when needed . His brute strength and speed are both an added bonus, although some might mock him and not agree that he is fast because he appears to be heavy. Perhaps having notched speeds of 30 km/h ( 31.2 km/ hr being his highest) may satisfy doubters and non-believers.

He is no stranger to scoring goals and 207 goals for Manchester United is a testimony to that . He is also an excellent CAM (or a play-maker ) and a brilliant dribbler. Often found to initiate counter attacks and do goal line clearances, Wayne Rooney on his day is undoubtedly one of the best forwards you can find in modern football.

I may not be able to convince rival fans about his flair and brilliance, but interest from rival managers including José Mourinho and Arsene Wenger often states that he is a welcome addition to any club. His composure, versatility and grace on the football field is something I believe every forward should have and is found in very few.
