Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has admitted that he is ‘gutted’ to have been ruled out of their pre-season tour.
Rooney wrote on his Facebook page: “Gutted to have picked up a niggling injury especially as training was going so well, heading back to Manchester to have it assessed fully but early indications are nothing to worry about.
The 27-year-old striker will miss the action for at least a month after suffering from a hamstring injury during training.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “Following a scan this evening on a hamstring injury sustained in training, it has been decided that Wayne Rooney should return home immediately for further assessment and rehabilitation.
The England international has been a subject of immense speculation since Sir Alex Ferguson announced in May that Rooney wanted to leave the club. However, new manager David Moyes insisted last week that Rooney was not for sale.
