Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has hailed Liverpool’s Luis Suarez as one of the best players in the world, telling MUTV that the Uruguayan is “up there with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.”
Rooney and Suarez go head to head at Old Trafford on Sunday as United take on Liverpool, and Rooney praised the partnership that has developed between 24 goal Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who has 18 league goals this season.
Then England forward believes that Sturridge’s form is a good sign for England heading into the World Cup this summer and admitted that United will have their work cut out if they are to stop the pairing scoring on Sunday.
“I think they are both fantastic players and obviously it is good to see Sturridge doing well because he has never really had a chance at his previous clubs,” opened Rooney.
“Brendan Rodgers has given him a chance and he has taken it with both hands. That is good for England as well.
“Suarez, for me, is up there with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the best players in the world. He has been that good and the two of them together have been in great form this season. We will have to do everything we can to stop them on Sunday.”
