The Telegraph reports, Manchester United would offer a contract renewal to their star striker, Wayne Rooney.

The striker is expected to sign a new contract which would keep him at Old Trafford untill 2018. The new contract would see Rooney earning £300,000-a-week.

After roping in Juan Mata for £37?million from Chelsea, speculations were there that Wayne Rooney would leave next summer. Rumours were heard that Real Madrid could offer Rooney a contract. But now it seems that United are not ready to let go their star.

Negotiations between United and Rooney took place this month and the player has been encouraged by the club’s eagerness to hand him a lucrative new deal and their determination to resist all offers to sell him.

Still 18-months are left in Rooney’s previous contract. It would be interesting to see if Rooney signs a new deal and ignores Chelsea and Madrid’s offer.
