Manchester United’s attacking lineup is so good that captain Wayne Rooney picked only forwards and midfielders in his 5-a-side team.
He doesn’t even bother to pick a defender or a goalkeeper (a must in any form of football game) in his team.
When he was asked to pick four other players to join him in a 5-a-side team, he asked: “Do you have to have a goalkeeper?
“If not, I’ll go for Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Robin van Persie and Juan Mata.”
The Red Devils captain obviously feels attack is the best form of defence and that outscoring the opposition is far more important than defending your own goal.
But considering half the defenders in the United squad are out injured, it doesn’t come as a surprise.
Who is Manchester United’s most competitive player in training?
Rooney was also asked about how competitive players were in training sessions.
Daley Blind had mentioned that Rooney was the most competitive person at the ground and the England captain agreed.
“Yeah, I’d probably say myself and Darren Fletcher.
“Rafael is always another one and Daley has come in and been really competitive,” he added.
“The way the team is now means there’s lots of competition and we all want to win in training. You’re disappointed if you’re on the losing team so everyone is quite competitive.”
