Rooney’s Manchester United team-mates are apparently irked by the player’s decision to put his interests above that of the team
Senior players Ryan Giggs, Rio Ferdinand, and Patrice Evra have allegedly indicated unhappiness over the way Rooney’s injury situation has been handled. Rooney was to join the squad for a game to be played in Stockholm, but pulled out at the last moment owing to a minor shoulder injury that he had sustained last week.
There has been tremendous interest evinced by rivals Chelsea for Rooney, which has created an atmosphere of intense unrest in the team, as reported by Irish Mirror.
Monday had ended with Rooney reportedly telling the United coach David Moyes for the second time that he wanted to leave the club. He was also interested in knowing the price that he would be sold for, and is also on the verge of handing over an official transfer request, as he had not been informed of the Chelsea bid.
United will prefer to sell Rooney to a foreign club, but the striker has made it clear that he surely will not be moving abroad. In the present scenario, it is believed that the United coach will raise the price of the striker to an unprecedented amount of over £50 million.
“A bid was received yesterday [Sunday] and immediately rejected. Our position remains that he is not for sale.” said a spokesman for Manchester United.
