We can't mess up against Anderlecht: Spalletti

IANS

Moscow - Zenit St. Petersburg coach Luciano Spalletti says Anderlecht should yield four to six points over the course of the Champions League group stage, as his team prepares to face the Belgian outfit Wednesday.

Defeats to Malaga and AC Milan have put Spalletti’s side on the brink of an early exit from the competition, but the Italian is hoping Wednesday’s game in St. Petersburg will kickstart the campaign.

“I heard the general director of Anderlecht saying they need four to six points in the two matches against us,” Spalletti said. “We think the same as them. For us it would be very good to get four points, six even better,” the 53-year-old coach added.

He recognised it was a make-or-break situation, however.

“We have no right to mess up in this position.”

The return leg is in Belgium Nov 6.

Zenit are bottom of Group C, which is led by Malaga on six points. Milan are second on four points, with Anderlecht third on a solitary point.
