We want to get another good result against India – Nepal coach Jack Stefanowski

Nepal coach Jack Stefanowski wants his side to build on their 2-1 win over India at the SAFF Championship 2013 with another positive result against the same opponents in Siliguri on Tuesday.

The Polish American was full of respect for India ahead of the international friendly and doesn’t believe the inexperience in Wim Koevermans’ team will make them any weaker.

“It is good that we have done well against India recently but this match will be a fresh new game. It is great to be here in India and we want to achieve another good result. Even though India have some new faces in the squad they are still quite strong and I expect a tough match,” Stefanowski stated.

Nepal will be without three important players in this match including Rohit Chand (FC Vestsjaelland) and Bimal Gharti Magar (FC Twente and Ajax) who are off their foreign trials. Stefanowski admitted that those players will be missed but believes that it gives a chance for others to step up.

“It is good for those two players and Nepal that they are getting foreign exposure. We would have liked to have them but I feel there are other players who can make the most of this opportunity and prove themselves,” he said.

The preparation of the Gorkhalis has been far from ideal as 13 of their players had been away on club duty at the Sikkim Governors Gold Cup instead of training for this match while the Nepal coaching staff also hasn’t been able to watch the video of India’s friendly with Philippines.

But Stefanowski remains optimistic of a good showing as the Nepal team are also expecting some of their own fans in the ground.

“Unfortunately we haven’t been able to get a video of India’s game and it’s not easy preparing when you have so many players away but at least they have been winning for their clubs. We are expecting our supporters to be in the stadium also so we could feel at home away from home. That is encouraging and we aim to make a good impression,” he concluded.
