Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his discontent with boss Rafa Benitez’s tactics, insisting that ‘the club will win nothing with him’, as per reports on the Mirror. Ronaldo’s working relationship with the Spanish coach has taken another drastic downturn and it has put his future in doubt with the Spanish giants.
The 30-year-old has been constantly linked with a Premier League return to Manchester United or a big-money move to France to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer. These speculations have been grabbing the headlines for the past few weeks.
Few days ago, Ronaldo made an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show in London. The Portugal captain had answered several questions on ‘personal matters’ and he was even asked about his possible return to England in the future. The three-time Ballon d’Or winner had replied by stating that ‘he’s happy at Madrid, but nobody knows about the future’.
Reports in Spain this morning have suggested that this season could be his last with Los Blancos.
Ronaldo’s working relationship with Benitez has gone from bad to worse. According to reports, the former United forward had told Perez his scathing view of the manager’s ability in the wake of Real’s 3-1 defeat to Sevilla.
The defeat against the La Liga outfit was the club’s first loss of the season under the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss, but he has been receiving criticism for his style of play and perceived defensive mindset.
The 30-year-old is also reportedly upset that Florentino Perez appears to have more affection for Gareth Bale than him, while the Portuguese, in turn, irritated the club president with his constant hints to the media about leaving Madrid.
Ronaldo has reportedly told those closest to him he doesn’t get on with the Welshman on or off the pitch and he prefers to have French striker Karim Benzema by his side rather than the former Tottenham forward.
Ronaldo refuses to rule out on a possible reunion with Jose Mourinho
Ronaldo had gone to England last week to promote his newly released documentary film – ‘Ronaldo’ and he had hinted on a possible reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
“To work with Mourinho again? Why not? I’ve got two years left on my contract with Real Madrid, but nobody knows what might happen,” he said at his premiere.
“I’ve said many times that nobody knows what will happen in the future.”
This came as a surprise to many as there were rumours of a rift between the Portuguese tactician and himself during their time together at the Santiago Bernabeu. Many still believe that the breakdown in relations between Mourinho and Ronaldo was one of the prime reasons why the former faced the axe in 2013.
