“We’ve made a smart decision in appointing Thomas Eichin as Klaus Allofs’ successor. He had been on our shortlist from the beginning and with his previous experience, he fits our profile perfectly,” Werder supervisory board chairman and former Director of Sports Willi Lemke said.
But Thomas Eichin is no newcomer to football, then he as a professional footballer made 180 appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach as a defender between 1985 and 1998, and worked in their marketing department before joining the Kölner Haie.
“This is a unique opportunity for me to return to football in a very interesting position at such a renowned club,” said Eichin.
“I am delighted with the faith the Werder Bremen bosses have placed in me. I would particularly like to thank the management of the Kölner Haie, who allowed me to take this opportunity from the spring.”
