Man City picked up their first away win of the season thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero and David Siva. Ricardo Vaz Te grabbed a consultation goal, but the Citizens were too powerful.
West Ham United:
Jussi Jaaskelainen (-25)
A couple of good saves but helped Aguero’s second goal into the net.
Guy Demel (-8)
Couldn’t deal with the threat of Nasri on his flank and was frequently outnumbered with Clichy doubling up. Demel did not make an interception today.
Razvan Rat (-14)
Put in two good crosses but none were converted by West Ham’s strikers. He also won all two of his tackles.
James Tomkins (3)
He couldn’t contain the twin threat of Negredo and Aguero. But he did win three of his four aerial duels.
Winston Reid (-1)
Same as Tomkins, unable to deal with the City strike force as they prised open the defence regularly. Reid did however, make 5 interceptions.
Mark Noble (-1)
An energetic performance but outmatched by Toure and Fernandinho in the centre of the park. Noble completed 74% of his passes.
Ravel Morrison (-3)
No repeat of the performance that saw him tear apart Tottenham, with a quiet game although it was his flick on that led to their goal. However, he was very tidy in the pass, with a pass accuracy of 86%.
Mohamed Diame (-1)
Lost in midfield as the City duo of Fernandinho and Toure took complete control. Diame lost all five of his aerial duels.
Ricardo Vaz Te (12)
He pulled off a stunning bicycle kick for West Ham’s consolation goal but was ineffective otherwise. He only completed seven passes.
Stewart Downing (-1)
Put in a shift, and made four key passes, more than any West Ham player.
Kevin Nolan (-16)
Starved of service, the midfielder had little to feed on throughout the game. Culpable for City’s second as he failed to track Aguero.
Subs:
Matt Jarvis (10)
The winger had some impact on the game, he completed one take-on and completed one cross.
Joey O’Brien (-7)
Did not have an effect on the game.
Mladen Petric (5)
The player did not have an effect, he did not complete a single pass.
Manchester City:
Joe Hart (-15)
Untroubled for much of the game, apart from the occasional West Ham foray forward.
Micah Richards (30)
Some excellent surging runs helped City to overwhelm the West Ham midfield. He also won all three of his tackles and won all four of his aerial duels.
Matija Nastasic (23)
Assured and composed at the back, rarely ever troubled by Nolan and Vaz Te. He completed 94% of his passes and won all three of his tackles.
Javi Garcia (26)
A makeshift defender but he was not tested enough by Allardyce’s men. Garcia had a 92% pass accuracy after completing 56 passes.
Gael Clichy (17)
Got forward well and supported the attack, a comfortable performance by the Frenchman. He won all four of his tackles.
Fernandinho (49)
A defence splitting pass put Aguero through on goal was the highlight of an imperious performance in midfield. He made 78 passes, with a 91% pass accuracy.
Yaya Toure (18)
A dominant display alonside Fernandinho, the duo overwhelmed the opposing midfield.
Samir Nasri (4)
Didn’t offer much of a threat as much of the City play was focused down the middle, but the attacker did his job well enough. He surprisingly won all three of his tackles too.
David Silva (56)
David Silva quietly dictated this game, he completed 81 passes with a pass accuracy of 89%. He also made six key passes, more than any player for either side.
Sergio Aguero (94) – Man of the Match
A sensational performance by the Argentine earned him the Squawka Man of the Match award. A cool finish for the opening goal followed by a deft header and was a constant threat to the Hammers defence. The striker also helped set up the third.
Alvaro Negredo (-3)
He proved to be a handful for the West Ham defence and his dummy for Aguero’s goal was delightful. However, he did not make a key pass today and had only two attempts.
Subs:
Alexsandar Kolarov (0)
Replacing Negredo as Pellegrini shifted to a more defensive outlook. Kolorov won all his tackles today.
James Milner (3)
On for Nasri, another defensive substitution as City shut-up shop.
Stevan Jovetic (1)
Aguero’s replacement, the Montenegrin didn’t have much time to make an impact.
