A serious injury played a part in West Ham's game too. Their star player and top goalscorer for the season, Michail Antonio, limped off just a couple of minutes after City equalised adding to David Moyes' woes.

Antonio's strike was spectacular on two counts; first, because of the exquisite way in which he found the back of the net, and second because it marked his 11th goal since the lifting of the lockdown in July. Only Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has scored more (12).

Antonio was the primary point of attack for The Hammers, causing all sorts of problems for the City defence and came close to winning a penalty in the 25th minute when he was brought down by Eric García. He was unlucky not to get the decision awarded in his favour.

#2 Manchester City struggling at both ends

Manchester City have struggled to create chances this season and their problems are compounded by the fact that they have been uncharacteristically leaky in defence as well.

Tonight, their display can be summed up as a performance of two halves. They were clueless in the first half, Antonio, Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal made the most of shoddy defending by the visitors, with Joao Cancelo putting little pressure on Coufal before he unleashed the cross leading to the goal and Antonio using the heft of Ruben Dias against him to score a stunner. City offered little to nothing in attack.

In the second half, the introduction of Phil Foden and Kevin De Bryune added some spark but it was intermittent as they lacked conviction going forward and were not their usual self in front of the goal after Foden's goal and failed to finish off chances despite having a lot of possession.

#1 Phil Foden comes of age for Manchester City

Phil Foden scored the equaliser for Manchester City just six minutes after coming on the pitch, telling us how much the 20-year-old has started contributing to Guardiola's side. In the absence of players like Aguero, Jesus and De Bryune, he is stepping up to support Raheem Sterling who has taken over most of the attacking duties for the club.

His understanding with Joao Cancelo helped him get on the scoresheet and just his presence on the field saw a much needed improvement in City's performance. He has delivered another performance which warrants his inclusion in the upcoming games.
