What is next for Real Madrid? A team who spent more than a billion euros in the last 10 years, has managed to win only one Champions League, three La Liga titles and one Copa Del Rey during that period.
With players like Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema in attack, with Isco, Modric, Kroos, James Rodriguez, and Sami Khedira, their team is full of talent. In defense, they have upcoming talents like Varane, experienced Ramos and Pepe, and between the bars they have the most respected player of their squad Iker Casillas who is one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
Though they have such promising talents in their side they failed to convert Champions League, Copa Del Ray and in La Liga, their title hopes are almost over.
In this situation one question comes to everyone’s mind, what is next for Real Madrid?
Here are 5 things that we are expecting in the coming days.
Replacing Ancelotti
Though the veteran coach has bagged three Champions’ League trophies with three different European clubs, we are expecting that he will be replaced soon by the Real Madrid management. With such a sublime squad, he has not been able to convert a single trophy this season.
The rumour is he will be replaced by the club legend Zinedine Zidane. Also there are rumors that Jurgen Klopp or Jupp Heynckes could be his replacements. However, we are expecting a replacement for the Italian.
Future of Gareth Bale
When Bale arrived he was among the most promising players in the world. He was being compared with young talents like Eden Hazard, Neymar. But lack of confidence, poor finishing, and constant criticism from Spanish media and from their own fans has affected his game.
We have already seen his performance against Juventus where he failed to convert couple of easy chances, maybe he could have scored from those chances if his morale was higher. Real Madrid will be looking forward to sell the Welshman and bag some cash which can be useful in the upcoming transfer window.
Manchester United, Chelsea and a lot of clubs are eagerly waiting to include Bale in their squad.
Who will be the Replacement?
We expect that Real Madrid will be very active in the upcoming transfer window. If they sell the Welshman, there will be a replacement. Marco Reus and Eden Hazard could be the primary targets for the Spanish Club. Not only in attack, there will be some signings in the defence as well.
Danilo Luiz da Silva has already signed for Los Blancos. David Alaba is another one of the targets that Real Madrid is chasing.
What is next for Iker Casillas?
During Mourinho era, we have seen that the veteran keeper had been sidelined for months. He has received boos from his own fans and suddenly he is one of the ‘favourites’ in the Spanish capital.
Who knows if the club can ask Iker to retire. Or even force him to be sidelined. So we can expect another quality keeper to join Real Madrid in this summer. Real Madrid’s prime target will be David DeGea, another Spanish to replace the veteran.
Change in playing style
There will be substantial changes in the squad in the coming summer transfer window. They have to develop a style that they want to follow. Lack of creativity in the attacking third, poor defending against counter attack, and over dependency on Cristiano Ronaldo have cost them the season.
An overall change in the playing style could restore their reign in the football kingdom.
