What should a Chelsea fan expect from Euro 2012

Witnessing History : Chelsea fans in Munich.

Chelsea fans across the globe are getting ready to support the Blues next season after a season that will go down in the history books as one of the best for the club. Agreed, fans need to take a break as well, but with the Euro coming up, what can a Chelsea fan expect? Who should they keep their eyes on? Who will excite them and who will they want to see as eventual winners?

Firstly, Petr Cech. Our savior and our hero. A man without whom you couldn’t imagine where Chelsea would be. He recently signed a 4 year contract and has been indispensable to the club since he first came to the club. He is adored by fans of his country and the club. The Czech Republic goalkeeper has publicly asked his team to give it their best. The country, which is currently ranked 26th, are lucky to have one of the best goalkeepers in Europe guarding their goal posts. The Blues would want their no.1 goalkeeper in top form after the Euros, and a dissapointing campaign could hit his morale even though you just cant question his professionalism. Get behind him as you get behind him when he is wearing the blue jersey!

The England boys of Chelsea have been terrific for us the entire season. England fans will now have to deal with big blows to Frank Lampard and Gary Cahill, who were vital in Roy Hodgson’s plans for the Euros. But as far as we are concerned, we just want them back fully fit next season. But once again, England’s back four has John Terry and Ashley Cole, who will have to form a formidable partnership to keep the other teams out. Another thing to be noted is that even though John is stripped of his captaincy and replaced by Gerrard, you can expect him to make the majority of the decisions in the positioning of the players and the way the move. Daniel Sturridge has impressed everyone and though he is on standby, I just hope we Roy gives him a chance. Get well soon, Frank and Gary!

Moving on to the Spanish boys of Chelsea, Torres is looking ahead to the Euros in an attempt to move over his disappointment show this season. His goal against Korea was splendid and he is looking strong for Spain, who are without David Villa. Mata might not have a prominent role as fighting for a position in Spain’s world-class midfield which has the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas and Alonso is going to be very tough. But nevertheless, we wish our boys the best of luck.

Not many would talk about Raul as they do about Ronaldo, but nevertheless, the man is in form for Portugal. Scoring a spectacular goal against Benfica, he believes Portugal can go all the way and claim the trophy for themselves. Wishing him all the luck in his first game against Germany in which Marko Marin would not feature.

Florent Malouda might not have been released but could move away from the Bridge in the coming days. Strongly linked to going back to France, he has been performing well for the French. When brought in by Chelsea, he performed well and overcame expectations. But his recent part-time inclusion in the squad was because of his disappointing performances.

Former Chelsea players who are selected by their respective nations are Damien Duff, Yuri Zhirkov, Arjen Robben, Ricardo Quaresma, Fabio Borini, Andriy Shevchenko, Glen Johnson, Scott Parker and Boulahrouz . This year’s selections represent an all-time high for the club.

Advice of the day to Chelsea fans : If anyone still makes fun of the Blues, look at them in the face and say ” HAHAHAHA. European Champions” and walk away. Always remain carefree.
