What a Chelsea fan should expect next season? After the arrival of Mourinho, every one of the CFC fan is excited about the prospects but the question remains same. Whether the fans wants a trophy laden season just like the last time when he was here (grinding out results without the flair) or they want a counter attacking beast which Real Madrid were during the past three years. Abrahmovic surely wants both but it would be difficult even for the ‘Special One’. Looking at the present Chelsea team, we can say they have enough quality in the likes of Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Luiz, Ramires etc. But playing pleasant looking football is one thing and winning Premier League title while playing beautiful football is other.
It will not be surprising if Chelsea wins Premier league title because of two simple reasons: first, Mourinho has done it before against the likes of Manchester United and formidable Arsenal. Second, both Manchester clubs will be having new managers and the likes of Arsenal and Spurs are not title contenders. But, what would be surprising will be the fact that CFC win the title by playing a attacking brand of football which is what many of us want. RDM tried to play a attacking brand of football and was successful initially but once the other teams found out the weaknesses of that system, everyone knows what happened.
It would be very interesting to see how Mou approaches this transfer market. Whether he buys experienced players nearing the 30′s, like he has done in Inter to focus on results or he buys young talent and give first team opportunities to players like Lukaku, McEachran, Piazon, KDB or Courtois which were on loan last season. That is what will determine the outcome of next season. Mourinho is master in delivering league titles. But, now he must prove that he is also the master of building a team, a shortcoming for which he was criticized many times in the past.
For me as a CFC fan, I would rather be happy if CFC plays a good looking football and wins one title (even FA cup will be sufficient). Because right now we have a big talent pool which should be utilized. If we sell players like KDB and bring players like De Rossi (29 years old), it would be good initially but again after 2-3 years we will need to spend big to fill the void left by De Rossi and that cycle will go on. So, why not keep our expectations down for one year and give ‘Special One’ time to build a formidable team that can conquer for many years to come. What is your opinion, Chelsea fans?
