The champions league draw in Monaco has promised many exciting matches. But first, let's have a look at what the draw means for the English clubs, who got the most difficult draw and who the easiest one.
Group B: Tottenham
Tottenham have been drawn in Group B this year and it is not a particularly easy one. With the likes of Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSV in their group, Tottenham have to bring their A-game if they want to qualify for the round of 16 this year. Barcelona would provide a stern test for Tottenham and it would be a great opportunity for the Spurs to test their mettle against the European giants. It would also be a great opportunity for them to announce their arrival on the greatest club tournament of Europe.
Group C: Liverpool
Drawn in what is arguably the group of death, Klopp's men face a very difficult challenge this season. Their group includes PSG, Napoli and Red Star Belgrade and none of them could be called easy. Liverpool also have been drawn against Chelsea in the Carabao cup and that match falls close to their match against Napoli. So Liverpool face a very hectic schedule in the months of September and October and it could also be season-defining for them. But Liverpool should be up for the challenge this season as they have added quality players to their squad and considerably increased their squad depth.
Group F: Man City
Man city's draw could be the easiest that an English team has got. With Shakhtar, Lyon and Hoffenheim in their group, one should expect City to comfortably qualify for the knock out stages. The last year's runaway premier league champions look like the team to beat this season as City look to win the first European silverware in their history. City would also like to put their disappointing loss to Liverpool last year behind them and Guardiola would be hoping to lead his team to success this year and win his 3rd champions league title as a coach.
Group H: Manchester United
Manchester United have been drawn in Group H which includes Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys football club. It can be called a relatively easy group for United with their match against Juventus being the most difficult one. But given United's recent performances, the red devils faithful won't be confident heading into the draw. United need to bounce back fast before the Champions League starts, or they would have to settle for yet another disappointing campaign in the champions league. One special thing about this draw is the return of Ronaldo to Old Trafford, the place where one could say his road to greatness began. Ronaldo was and is still heavily loved by United's supporters and the scene when he once again steps out on the Old Trafford pitch would be truly worth watching.
