As we welcomed back club football, many nations were fighting to secure their spot in the Euro 2024 international break. The tournament, hosted in Germany, offers another opportunity for countries to get their hands on a major trophy.
With one more round of qualifying fixtures in November, some countries will have nothing to worry about as they have confirmed their qualification for Euro 2024.
Let's find out which countries are confirmed to be participating in Euro 2024 next summer.
#1 Germany
A place at Euro 2024 was never in doubt for Germany, as they are hosting the tournament next summer. The hosts automatically qualified, meaning Germany did not have to worry about any qualifiers.
The German national side has instead been playing friendlies. Since a surprise 4-1 defeat to Japan. However, it has been better for Germany, beating France and the USA while drawing with Mexico.
Following their 4-1 defeat to Japan, their manager, Hansi Flick, was sacked and replaced by former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann. The former Bayern manager hopes to lead the hosts to a win in their home country next summer.
#2 France
It was straightforward for the World Cup finalists, as they won six out of six in their qualifying group, conceding just one goal. They have confirmed their qualification with two games to spare against Gibraltar and Greece.
Main man and captain Kylian Mbappe has topped the scoring charts with six goals in six games. Antoine Griezmann and Aurelien Tchouameni also impressed for France during the qualifiers.
France looks difficult to stop at the moment, having only missed out on winning back-to-back World Cups due to a penalty shootout loss to Lionel Messi's Argentina last year.
This current form in the qualifiers will surely bring confidence to the side with talent throughout it. They will no doubt be a contender come next summer.
#3 Portugal
Qualifying for these major international tournaments is not always plain sailing. Portugal found this out when they had to go through a playoff to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
Although it has been very effortless this time around for Roberto Martinez's Portugal, they have won eight out of eight qualifying games, scoring 32 goals and conceding two.
There is certainly still life in Cristiano Ronaldo, as he tops the scoring charts for Portugal with nine. Elsewhere, Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes scored five and assisted eight goals during qualifying.
It was a disappointing end for Portugal in the World Cup, as they lost to a battling Morocco side in the quarterfinals. But their confidence should have grown through these qualifiers as they aim to bring the Euros back to Portugal.
#4 Belgium
Belgium currently sits at the top of their qualifying group with two games to play, ahead of Austria on goal difference, who have one game to play. They have won five out of six, drawing the other 1-1 against Austria.
It has been an impressive qualifying campaign for striker Romelu Lukaku, who has scored ten goals in six qualifying games. His goals have proved crucial for the national team to solidify their position in Euro 2024.
Belgian stars Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Jan Vertonghen, and Yannick Carrasco are all at least 30 years of age. Euro 2024 could be one of the last opportunities for them to compete at a major international tournament.
Although there are young and bright prospects like Jeremy Doku, Lois Openda, and Amadou Onana coming through, Belgium will still need their stars to shine if they are in with a chance.
#5 Spain
It has been the same old Spain during the qualifiers, as they have passed opposition teams off the park. Over the six games, they have won five and averaged 67% possession.
Many different players have been chipping in with goals: Alvaro Morata (four), Joselu (three), Gavi, Ferran Torres, and Dani Olmo (two).
Aside from a shock defeat to Scotland at Hampden earlier this year, Spain have been in control and always looked likely to qualify. Their goal difference makes them likely to top the group over Scotland with wins against Cyprus and Georgia.
It is a young and bright Spain side with plenty of quality, and they will be hoping to improve their performance from the World Cup.
#6 Scotland
Scotland fans must feel like they are dreaming. Before qualifying for Euro 2020, Scotland had not qualified for a European Championship since 1996. Now, they have qualified for Euro 2024 with two games to spare.
The big moments came before the recent round of qualifiers. Scotland beat Spain at Hampden 2-0 and beat Norway 2-1, with goals in the 87th and 89th minutes, to make a perfect start to their campaign. These results put them in prime position to qualify, and a Spain win over Norway was enough to confirm their place.
It has been a remarkable qualifying campaign for Manchester United's Scott McTominay, who scored six goals, including a brace, in their win over Spain. Only Romelu Lukaku, Kylian Mbappe, and Cristiano Ronaldo have scored more.
It is the best form that the Scotland side has shown in some time, but friendly defeats to Euro contenders England and France may show that Scotland is still some way from being competitors. However, their win over Spain shows you can never count them out.
#7 Turkey
It has been an impressive qualifying campaign for Turkey, as they sit top of a group ahead of Wales and World Cup third-placed nation Croatia. They have lost just one of their seven qualifying games as they confirmed their place at Euro 2024.
Turkey enjoyed an impressive qualifying campaign for Euro 2020. They finished second behind France, winning seven out of ten games. They were heavily backed to have a good tournament. It didn't quite go as planned, as they lost all three group games.
However, they have been excellent throughout these qualifiers and will no doubt take confidence into the Euro next year. Inter Milan's Hakan Calhanoglu will be a crucial player for Turkey if they are to do well.
#8 Austria
Austria confirmed their qualification ahead of Sweden, who failed to get going with just two wins in five games. Austria was in a position to potentially finish first but a 3-2 defeat to Belgium means they are likely to finish second in the group.
It is still an excellent achievement for Austria as many would have tipped Sweden, who are two places above Austria in the FIFA rankings, to qualify along with Belgium.
Austria has now qualified for four of the last five Euros and reached the round of 16 at Euro 2020. They will be hoping to prove themselves on the big stage at Euro 2024 in Germany next year.
#9 England
England got the job done with an impressive 3-1 win over Italy at Wembley. England, who are often impressive in qualifying, won five of their six qualifying games, drawing the other 1-1 with Ukraine.
In recent tournaments, it has been so close, yet so far. A semi-final defeat to Croatia at the 2018 World Cup, a penalty defeat in the final to Italy at Euro 2020, and a quarter-final defeat to France at the 2022 World Cup.
If England are to finally take that leap to win a major tournament, players like Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham will be key. The two Englishmen playing abroad are some of the most in-form players in Europe, and Bellingham has impressed with England in a role further forward.
They will no doubt be one of the favorites going into Euro 2024, and Gareth Southgate will be hoping he can take the national side that extra step.
