Here's a question for the Chelsea fans around the world ahead of the Champions League game against PSG in Paris tomorrow night. Who should start in this one in goal Petr Cech or Thibaut Courtois?
Now the reason I am asking the question is because of events over our last three games. In those games, the young Belgian has started two of them, Manchester City at home and Aston Villa away, and Big Pete has started the once in our last game at home to Everton.
Now looking at Thibaut Courtois and questions have been raised for the first time this season after two shaky performances against City at home followed by Villa away. OK, we took four points and didn't lose the games but he was at fault for the goal against City and looked uneasy against Villa.
When I say uneasy, I am referring to him not looking as comfortable with coming off of his line and dealing with crosses for example. You only have to look at the goal we conceded against City to see that if this was earlier in the season, he would have come and claimed the ball easily and with confidence.
Against Villa, there was a few occasions where he looked uneasy again and not as confident as before which is more than likely the reason as to why Petr Cech started against Everton.
Now, look at Cech's performance and it was outstanding. I said in my post game report after the three points last week that it was Big Pete who turned out to be our hero with two outstanding saves from Romelu Lukaku that quite literally kept us at level terms.
Ever reliable and with a few clean sheets to his name in the appearances he has made this season, could Petr Cech be given a massive vote of confidence and his reward for his performance against Everton with the nod to start this one?
It's a tough one to call but what do you people think?
