Why I am proud to be a Liverpool fan

Nowadays, football has really emerged in India as the second-most viewed sport. A lot of these football fans support either Barcelona or Real Madrid, which is quite obviously due to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. In my whole school, there is no Liverpool supporter. There are some Manchester United fans too. But when I discuss football with them, I feel unique and special. Yes, most of the time I have to hear things about my club, which include our inconsistency, lacklustre performances in the Premier League, and our inability to make it to the UCL. But I always am there to protect my club. Some of my friends are plastic fans of Manchester United just because they are famous and successful. However, I am never scared to tell anyone who I am supporting. Some even laugh at me. I just avoid them because I know that Liverpool is the best. Yes, we are in a transition period, but I am sure we will bounce back.

It isn’t easy to be a Liverpool fan. You can’t expect a win in every game, and you have to be patient. I know that very well, as I have supported the club for the last 6-7 years. We recently lost to United, but that was expected, as we aren’t the team we used to be 5-6 years ago, but in the Reds I will always believe.

One more reason why I am so proud is our passionate fan base. I just love the way the crowd creates such an electric atmosphere. The belief in the eyes of each and every supporter makes this such a great club. The noise that our 40,000 fans make inside the stadium is surely equal to the other clubs having more capacity in their stadiums. The history fascinates me, as well as the culture and the passion. People say it is not easy for a manager to come here because of the media pressure, but the support the fans give to the manager is amazing, and that makes the job of the manager much easier. Liverpool is my life, and I can never support any other club.
