Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he would move to Qatar rather than Manchester City if his next move was all about money. The Real Madrid star responded that at 30 years of age, he is no longer motivated by financial incentives and his next move will solely be based on his passion for the game.Ronaldo has been asked several times about the possibility of leaving Real Madrid during the promotional campaign for his new biopic. During an interview with BBC Sport, when asked about the possibility of one day moving to City, Ronaldo replied: "You think the money [is] going [to] change my mind now, at 30 years old?”"I don't think so. I think this is not going to be the problem. If you speak about the money I will go to Qatar. Maybe they probably have more money than Manchester City. But it's not about the money, it's about the passion," he emphasised.
Ronaldo said it had also been ‘hard’ to see his former club Manchester United struggle under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal. "For me it's hard to see that," he said. "Because it's a club I love and of course I want to see Manchester United in a level that it was in the past."
Ronaldo has been hinting that he could one day return to his beloved Manchester United. The Portuguese star has always claimed that the club remains special to him because of the six trophy-laden years he spent at Old Trafford before his then world-record £80million move to Real Madrid.
United have retained an interest in him and tried to sign him in 2013 before he signed his ginormous five-year deal at the Bernabeu. He insists he is happy at Real, but refuses to rule out moving back to the Premier League.
“People know I love Manchester United. It’s great there - they support me a lot… I’m very good here at Madrid, but in the future, nobody knows. Let’s see what’s gonna happen,” he was quoted as saying by Mirror.
The Real Madrid striker has been in sublime form in the La Liga and has scored eight goals. He is placed second in the top scorers list, behind Neymar from FC Barcelona.
