Will this season be a 'two way' battle once again?

‘Battle royale’ once more?

After a thrilling last season that saw City clinch the title from the jaws of defeat (and United!), we are ready for another grueling Premier League season starting in five days time. Though it may not probably go down to the last minute like the previous one, it nevertheless has all the ingredients to keep fans glued to their television sets.

United will definitely be looking to launch a fresh assault at the league title, whereas City will look to consolidate their place as a top rung Premier League club and defend their title successfully.

While we have the usual ‘favourites’ like Chelsea, Arsenal (groan!) and Liverpool (this will be our year!), clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle United definitely would look to carry on their form into the new season.

Well, coming back to the ‘Big Two’, we have Fergie’s boys on one side, boasting of Shinji Kagawa, and City on the other hand, a formidable squad, bankrolled by their super rich owners to brush aside competition.

Also, European champs, Chelsea look to have made up for the departure of club hero, Didier Drogba, with the signing of new ‘sensation’ Edin Hazard, and also the revival of Fernando Torres.

Though, it would be too premature to predict whether Kagawa and Hazard can live up to their high billing, there is no doubt about City and United being the two clubs who will head the title race this time around too.

City, with their inspirational skipper Vincent Kompany, look set to continue with their winning momentum, whereas United and Sir Alex may have well begun preparations to show City and the rest, as to who really is the boss in charge.

Also, it would be interesting to see if the three newly promoted teams (Reading, West Ham and Southhampton) can pull off a ‘Swansea’, and survive from relegation.

And watching former Swansea boss, Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, trying to put years of agony to rest, and bring some cheer to the ‘Kop’ faithful, will surely be interesting indeed.

Though the upcoming Premier League season definitely looks like a ‘Two way battle’ between City and United, and also holds promises like Hazard and Kagawa, still there can be no guarantees made.

The upcoming season may just about prove every prediction wrong and can be the start of a new beginning for say a Spurs or the ‘Toon Army’, and may just have the Anfield faithful ending the ‘next season is ours’ jinx, once and for all.
