Team India coach Wim Koevermans and captain Sunil Chhetri wished the Indian Under-16 boys all the success ahead of their title clash against Nepal in the Under-16 SAFF Championship final later today.
“On behalf of the coach, players and the staff of the senior national team of India, I’d like to wish everybody and the coaching staff best of luck for the final of the U-16 SAFF Championship,” Koevermans wrote in his message to head coach Goutam Ghosh.
“We look forward to the players bringing the Cup back to India. It’s a great achievement getting to the final and now that you are there, you ought to try and win it. It will be a big highlight in your career as a football player,” he added.
“We are all part of one big family!”
Skipper Sunil Chhetri, presently training with Bengaluru FC, said, “Wearing the Indian national shirt and singing the National Anthem is every footballer’s dream. You all have done it at the tender age of 15. Wish you success in the final. Go and give it your best shot.”
An overwhelmed Goutam Ghosh thanked both Koevermans and Chhetri for their support and concern. “My boys always look up to Sunil Chhetri. His concern inspires us ahead of the final,” he stated.
“Besides being a great coach, Koevermans is a true gentleman! We need to thank him for his gesture. It means a lot to us. We will try our best,” he pronounced.
