#1 David de Gea
David de Gea had a World Cup to forget. Arguably the best goalkeeper in the World before the start of the tournament in Russia, David de Gea has dented his reputation after below-par performances in the World Cup.
He started the tournament in a dreadful way when he allowed a tame Cristiano Ronaldo effort to find the back of the net. His statistics at the tournament were absolutely dismal. Of the seven shots he faced at the World Cup, he managed to save only one and conceded six goals.
He also failed to save any of the penalties in the round of 16 game against Russia. The 27-year-old lacked conviction and struggled with his distribution. Though De Gea alone cannot be blamed for their exit, a better De Gea world have certainly helped their cause.
