#1 Jesse Lingard (England)
Jesse Lingard was one of the most underrated players in England prior to the 2016/17 campaign. He had a breakthrough campaign last term, when he starred for Manchester United - and continues to improve with regular minutes under his belt.
Lingard scored a stunning goal against Panama and was England's most significant goalscoring threat in their group stage games. His presence in-and-around the opposition area proved too much to handle and he too had an eye for goal.
England are set to play Colombia in the Round of 16 next week and Lingard has a significant role to play within the final third if the Three Lions are to go all the way during this tournament. A handful of impressive displays for England already has increased his value and justified United's trust in him, by giving him a new lucrative contract in recent months.
