#4 Angola (2006)
Angola were a part of Portugal until 1974, but had to wait for another decade before they took a crack at the World Cups. However, it was only in 2006 when the Palancas Negras put the records straight. And just so that you know, the then-manager Golcalves sought to seek advice from then-Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho, whose wife hailed from Angola, while selecting the squad!
Drawn alongside Portugal, Mexico, and Iran, they finished third with two draws and a defeat, including a goalless stalemate against Mexico! But Angola bowed out with a single goal when Flavio da Silva struck against Team Melli in the last group game.
For the subsequent World Cups, Angola haven't got past even the second round of the African qualifiers. They are currently 137th in the world.
