#1 1982: Giuseppe Bergomi
Let’s start in Spain, with World Cup 1982 where Italy took on West Germany in the final, winning 3-1, as Inter players Giuseppe Bergomi and Gabriele Oriali both coming out on top. Italy claimed their third World title in 1982 before getting their fourth 24 years later in 2006.
Giuseppe Bergomi, one of Italy's finest defenders of all-time and a one club servant with Inter throughout his playing career, Bergomi won the World title in Spain. A robust defender who spent his entire career in Italy is a widely respected figure in the country.
Bergomi appeared 81 times for the national team and was also part of the Italy squad that finished third at Italia 90.
