CM: Radja Nainngolan(Belgium | AS Roma)
Undoubtedly, the most surprising omission of the World Cup 2018, a distraught Nainngolan announced his retirement after a second consecutive World Cup snub. Coming on the back off a fantastic campaign that saw him become an integral part of a Roma squad that defied all the odds to reach the semi-finals, it is indeed surprising to not see his name on the squad list.
While Roberto Martinez has defended his decision citing 'tactical reasons' for leaving Radja out of the squad, Nainngolan's attitude of the pitch might have been his undoing.
However, nothing can justify his exclusion considering his season for AS Roma and especially when the likes of Fellaini is picked ahead of him for Belgium.
Roberto Martinez has received a lot of backlash for his decision with many even claiming Belgium's chances as dark horses of the tournament have just taken a huge hit following Nainngolan's absence.
