World Cup preparations suffer yet another jolt; Three people dead in Brazil stadium collapse

Brazil is about as ready for the FIFA World Cup 2014 as an unwilling bride on the eve of her wedding. Many will remember the roof collapse that happened in May this year. And before the ink can dry on that one, another collapse has rocked the stadium that was supposed to host the opening ceremony next year.

AP has posted this brief video on Youtube showing the collapsed crane. At least three people are believed to have died under the weight of the mess. For a country struggling to piece things together ahead of the iconic event, this is yet another bout of terrible news.

Unless Brazil does everything possible to allay the fears of the global community and make quick progress on the preparations for the event, doubts shall only mount about the country’s ability to host an event of this magnitude.
