Rumour: Xabi Alonso contract talks with Real Madrid stall, Chelsea interested

Chelsea and Jose Mourinho have been put on alert with the news that Xabi Alonso‘s contract talks with Real Madrid have stalled.

The former Liverpool midfielder has been at the Bernabeu since the summer of 2009 and has won La Liga and Copa Del Rey with the Spanish giants.

With his contract soon to run out, though, Madrid have reportedly offered him a new two-year deal with an option of a third but talks seemed to have stalled momentarily.

The reports mean Chelsea are now sat up on the edge of their seats waiting for further news with some reports claiming Alonso is preparing to leave as a free agent over the summer.
