Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Manchester City was the beginning of the end of Yaya Toure’s City career.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach jettisoned the Ivorian powerhouse from Spain when the midfielder was in his prime, and it did not seem likely that the coach would look at him as an important player, especially since the player had aged in years and in performances over the last few years.
His removal from the first team was unceremonious, to say the least. However, after Guardiola left Toure out of his Champions League squad, things escalated to a whole new level.
Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk got dragged into the discussion, an in an effort to defend his client, he said that Toure had been ‘humiliated’, and that Manchester City would ‘lose millions of fans in Africa’, due to Guardiola’s treatment of the African star.

This outburst angered Guardiola and he stated that Toure wouldn’t feature in his plans until his agent apologised.
The Ivorian’s agent has now struck back at Guardiola and continues the war of words between him and the Spanish manager, and Seluk’s response is sure to leave him stunned.
Yaya Toure’s agent went on a fierce tirade against the Catalan coach, saying he was lucky he had Messi at Barcelona and also said that his victories with Bayern were nothing to boast about.
Seluk, in an interview with the Daily Mirror said, “The team he took at Barcelona had been built by Frank Rijkaard, and he was lucky to have Lionel Messi.”
“It was Messi who made Barca, not Pep.” He also pointed to the fact that Barcelona’s continued success after Guardiola’s departure pointed to the fact that Guardiola was not the reason for Barcelona’s victories.
“Luis Enrique has shown that Barca’s success was not down to Guardiola.”
Pep Guardiola won three Bundesliga titles while in Bavaria, but Seluk dismissed his achievements, saying, “It was the same in Munich. He could not fail. My grandfather could have won the league with that team.”
“If Pep wants to prove himself – as a great manager – then he should go to Zaragoza or Sunderland. Let’s see how good he is when he doesn’t take over a great team, and when he does not have half a billion pounds to spend.”
