Young striker Joshua King, who made his Champions League debut against Galatasaray on Tuesday night, has joined Blackburn Rovers on loan. King has been at United since he was 15 and this loan opportunity, under the guidance of Blackburn manager and ex-Red Henning Berg, will hopefully prove decisive in his future in English football. The loan move isn’t King’s first; he’s previously had spells at Preston North End, Borrusia Mönchengladbach and most recently Hull City.
The initial loan deal will see King play in the Championship until January, and if it proves to be successful then I assume the deal will be extended until the end of the season. With Federico Macheda expected to leave in January I imagine that, if King continues his progress until next season, then come the start of the next season he might be one of a few youngsters like Will Keane who will be pressing for a place in the first team.
