Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has said that the team does not need any new addition during the January transfer window. Thus clearing out all speculations about Madrid’s activities in the last week of the winter transfer window.
Real Madrid are up against Real Betis on Sunday in an away match. Zidane said in the pre-match press conference,
"No, I don't think it is necessary to reinforce the squad.
"I am not going to look outside for what I already have inside."
Both the Madrid clubs, Atletico and Real have recently been hit with a two-window FIFA transfer ban. The reason being the alleged ‘irregularities’ in signing young players, the same offence for which Barcelona received their embargo.
Both the clubs have appealed against the transfer ban and have claimed innocence. But if the ban is not delayed by the appeals, the Madrid clubs cannot hope to sign new players for quite some time now.
Real Madrid are currently occupying the third spot in the La Liga table with 43 points. Barcelona are at the helm with 48 points followed by Atletico Madrid who sit second with 47 points. The Los Blancos have come up with brilliant performances in their two games under the new manager.
In both the games they have scored five goals, the first match was against Deportivo La Coruna and the second match against Sporting Gijon.
Nacho will not leave the club in January: Zidane
On the other hand, Madrid’s defender Nacho is apparently being courted by Serie A sides Napoli and Roma but Zidane keenly wants to keep the 26-year old at the Santiago Bernabeu. Zidane sees Nacho as the future of the team and has shown his faith in the youngster.
"Nacho is not leaving," said Zidane. "He is young, the future of the team, he trained well with total normality and nothing more. He won't leave.
"There are not three good centre-backs, there are four - Nacho also counts. Better to have four like them than four that are less strong. I prefer to choose between these four and that is my responsibility, each week will be different.
"We have 26 players. Every week there are 18 players called and a starting 11. We will need everyone for sure."
Nacho has made only seven league appearances this season.
