What is the lore behind Remi in Fortnite?

Remi can best be described as a demon or perhaps a demon lookalike from a reality where characters have a dark side to them. That being said, Remi is not evil by any means. He is not even associated with any faction, which makes him his own person, and unrelated to anyone. In fact, in his spare time, he enjoys listening to music a lot. For this reason, he's often called a 'music fiend'. Same goes for Desdemona and her cool snapshot Underworld Desdemona. She might look evil, but she's not.

Coming to his lore, since he hasn't been part of the storyline in any way, it is unclear what his role in the Metaverse is. Apart from his appearance suggesting he could be evil (which he is not), there is nothing else to go on for the most part. His official in-game description reads, "He's got a little devil in him." As mentioned, this would suggest that he's not evil, but he could get up to some mischief if he wanted.
